Bad Cat Friday!!!

There are a few places that are off limits for the kitties - the kitchen counter, the stove, and the fridge, just to name a few. But for some reason, they still push their limits, and mine! Bad kitties!!!!

This is the life...

Reggie: I love my toys so much! Sometimes I get very excited and play with them a really long time, until I tucker out and then decide it's time to wash myself. Such is the life of a sphynx! Then, after I am done playing I take a nap with my older brother.

I also got a bath yesterday. Not so much fun, but at least it's over with! This morning I actually got under the covers with my mom at 5:30am and slept with her until her alarm clock went off. My mom was happy that I didn't meow in her face and walk all over her like I usually do!

Here you can see my kitty pooch! All cats have them, they are just more noticeable on us cats without hair. You can also see my birthmarks on my right shoulder there - they weren't always there, but they are now!

Sorry, but I had to clean myself!

Nap time with Marley.

Reggie Asthma Update...

Reggie has only coughed once the past three days! (At least when I've been around). Usually I would hear him cough several times a day. Could the medication be working? I sure hope so! A $17 medication sure beats a $420 chest X-Ray! (Not being cheap as I would do anything for my kitties, but you know where I'm coming from....)

Our Kitty Areas

Well, Marley has been battling another eye infection (chronic for him I think), but it is finally clearing up with the Terramycin.

I know I posted about kitty asthma a few posts back, and we suspected that Reggie might have it. He would crouch down low to the ground several times a day and cough like he was trying to hack up a hairball. This would last about 10-20 seconds and then he'd stop and act like nothing was wrong. I had taken a video and showed my vet and she said it did look like an asthma attack, but she wasn't too concerned just yet...she said she hadn't seen any mucus when Reggie was under anesthesia getting neutered so she said we would monitor if it got worse or not. In the meantime, I emailed Reggie's breeder and she wrote back saying that it sounded like he has a secondary respiratory infection and suggested we try a certain medication some of her cats had been on before.

I then forwarded this information on to my vet (yes, she gave me her email address!). She said we could try the medication the breeder suggested...and...we are on day 3 and I have not heard any coughing attacks from Reggie!!! Here's to hoping the medication is working! And...amazingly enough, Reggie is sooo easy to give a pill too!

So since I haven't taken many recent pictures of them, here are some pictures of their "kitty areas"

A wall hanging my aunt gave me....and oh so true!
The litter box corner! You might be wondering why there are two and one is uncovered. Well, Reggie refused to use the covered one when we first brought him home, but now, for some reason, both are using the covered one again. My hope is to phase out the other one...but then again, with the sphynx metabolism, two litter boxes are sort of necessary.
Toys, toys, and more toys!

Wordless Wednesday...sort of

Meet Bailey - Marley's dad. The breeder had to put a diaper on him because he was constantly spraying his "manhood" around her house.

Marley and Reggie Overload!

Well, since I haven't posted much lately, here are some funny poses of Marley & Reggie sleeping at various times this weekend (no, I did not pose them!) as well as a video of them grooming - ENJOY! (in the background of the video you hear Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer!)

It is perfectly acceptable to tackle your younger brother...even if he is catching up to you in weight!

Meet our "cousins"

Our Mom wants to introduce you to Katee and Tippy! They are very dear to her as she considers them her pets too. They currently live with our mom's parents. They are the bestest kitties ever, so we hear. Our mom lived with Tippy for many, many years as he was adopted from the pound in 1990! Yes, that means he is almost 18 years old. He is on special food for his kidneys, but other than that and his smelly breath, he is doing just fine. He is one amazing cat considering he has been an indoor/outdoor cat his entire life and has survived coyotes and other wildlife! Tippy is definitely a meezer cat and that's why we think he's lived for so long! Good genes!

Katee was rescued by our Grandpa when she was just a baby kitten living on the streets. She is the first girl kitty our grandparents ever had because they had always heard males were more loving, but boy were they wrong! Katee (KT) is very loving and affectionate and loves to "quiver" her mouth when you talk to her. Her meow is very quiet, unlike our loud yelps! She is an indoor/outdoor kitty too but if you are home she loves to be around people - she definitely knows she was saved by our Grandpa. She is about 3 years old now.

Our Mom misses them!

All Settled In....

Hi everybody! Well, we are all moved into our new home and so far, so good. Mom still has some boxes to unpack and has to organize the kitchen still, but we are doing just fine. We love the sunshine that comes in the window in the morning and we lounge here for hours in the morning, grooming and catching rays.

Our new home has hardwood floors and that was funny at first, but we are getting used to it. Mom says she still needs to buy a couple of rugs, which is a good thing because we make a lot of noise running around and chasing each other on these floors. It apparently sounds like a herd of elephants on the savanna when we do!

We hope everyone is doing well and since today is Columbus Day Mom will be home with us since she doesn't have work! Woo hoo!!! We have a feeling a nap session will be in order for all today.

Moving, moving, moving

Don't worry, we didn't forget about you all! Mom is busy packing boxes and stuff...we really don't know why our favorite futon is suddenly gone, but we are okay with sleeping other places for now. She mentioned something about putting us in the office Friday morning while the "movers" are here, whoever they are....

We also got our bi-monthly baths tonight and our ears were cleaned yesterday.

We will talk to you guys soon. Mom won't have Internet this weekend, and then she is off Monday from work (Columbus Day), so we shall cat-ch up with you all next week!

PS: Marley wanted me to tell you how flattered he was with all the wonderful comments he received over his calendar!

Marley won a CONTEST!!!!

Ok, let me start from the beginning:

I use the Litter Locker for my kitties. If you have indoor only cats and don't have one yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. The only downside to this marvelous invention are the refills! At chain pet stores they routinely sell for $10+ each! Well, if you know anything about sphynx' you know that they have high metabolisms and therefore they eat...and drink....A LOT! And you can guess what happens when one eats and drinks a lot...yup...mucho cat box time!

So, I needed to find a solution to these refills...thus my "googling" skills came into play. That is when I found the website for REVIVAL ANIMAL HEALTH. They carry the refills and at a fair price. Even with shipping I still wind up on top when I order them in bulk, and believe me, Marley and Reggie go through them mighty quickly!

So one day, many, many months ago I entered their photo contest online. I honestly do not remember when I entered, but all I know is that the photo I submitted was of Marley at 6 months old, and obviously, Reggie wasn't even born yet!!

Well, today I got a package in the mail alerting me that we were one of the WINNERS!! I received a $25 gift certificate to use on Revival Animal Health, and you know what that will be going towards!

I guess you could say "we" barely made the calendar since it goes from Oct. 2008 through Dec. 2009, and we only made the inset picture, but hey.....Marley did it!! It was very exciting to get this news after a long day at work.

Reggie was sort of jealous but I told him not to worry as we would try and get him submitted for next year's calendar.

Here is the letter that accompanied the package (typo in the first sentence; should be 2009, not 2005, oops!)
The front of the calendar.
Isn't he precious!??

Thank you Marley for being so CUTE!

Spoiled? What gave you that idea?

Our Mom is going to be very busy this week as she is getting ready to move. We aren't quite sure what that means, but we know we are having fun with all the boxes around!

So if she doesn't post as often, don't fret - we'll be back soon enough! In the meantime, here are some photos of me being spoiled, I mean, loved.....

Talk to you soon,

Marley
PS: Reggie is quickly gaining on me as he continues to grow! I better let him know who is boss around here!
