I see no reason that that table is not sacred...
Our mewmmie got out of the habit of leaving stuffs on the table cuz there was a time when Disco (aka Peesco) would wet on them...but lately he has been good so sometimes there's stuffs for us to lay on too
We get on everything too!!! We eat on the kitchen counter!
